Low Testosterone

Request An Appointment

As men age, it’s normal that testosterone starts to drop. The signs and symptoms may be subtle, but there are many things you can do to help support your body and testosterone levels. At Hale Wellness Clinic, we work with you to develop an individual hormone treatment program to get you back to feeling your best.

Signs and Symptoms of Low Testosterone

Symptoms of low testosterone may be subtle to most men until they affect their daily lives. Men of all ages can suffer from low testosterone, so it’s important to know your body and realize when things aren’t typical. If you suspect you’ve got low testosterone levels, you may be noticing some of these symptoms:

  • Low sex drive
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Hot flashes
  • Hair loss
  • Fatigue
  • Decreased muscle mass
  • Increased body fat
  • Decreased bone mass
  • Mood changes
  • Affected memory

Testosterone plays a large role in supporting your libido and erections. When testosterone is low, there may be a drastic drop in sex drive. Testosterone also aids in achieving and maintaining an erection by telling the brain to produce nitric oxide, a chemical that triggers a series of chemical reactions that are necessary for an erection to occur. If testosterone levels are too low, you may have a hard time getting an erection before sex.

If you’ve noticed some of these symptoms in yourself or someone you love, it may be a sign of low testosterone. The good news is there are treatment options available.

Low Testosterone Treatment Options

At your first appointment, we will go over a detailed health history to understand more about the symptoms you’re experiencing. We may run lab work to get to the root cause of your symptoms, and if that shows you’ve got low testosterone, we have treatment options available that can help. We specialize in treatments for low testosterone, and can even work through telehealth to assist you through the process. The two main options we use for low testosterone treatment are:

Orals: We use a method called BHRT to supply the body with hormones in an oral form for a common and effective treatment option. To get the best results, you’ll have to take the tablets daily.
Creams: Creams are applied topically and then absorbed into the bloodstream through the skin. The cream is applied on the scrotum for the best absorption on that part of the skin. It’s important to make sure the cream is fully absorbed because it can be transferred to others.
